Inspiring Resilience - Empowering Lives

Our vision is a world where everyone all of ages living with inflammatory arthritis can freely pursue their dreams and live life to the full.

We are delighted to officially launch, Inflammatory Arthritis UK (IAUK), a new patient led charity run by volunteers living with inflammatory arthritis. Our vision and mission centers on inspiring resilience and empowering lives for anyone of any age living with inflammatory arthritis. We will be providing people with the support, guidance and resources they need to take control of lives and navigate uncertain times with confidence and resilience.

Inflammatory arthritis affects over 750,000 people across the UK and approximately 20 million globally. IA is a group of conditions that cause joint pain, swelling and stiffness due to the body’s immune system attacking the joints. It is a systemic condition that extends beyond the joints, often affecting various organs and systems throughout the body. There is also the emotional and mental impact of living with a chronic fluctuating disease.

We aim to support everyone of all ages impacted by inflammatory arthritis (IA), including families, friends and carers and create a community to share lived experiences so we can learn from each other. IA can affect ALL ages, and through all our work we will raise awareness and understanding of living with IA.

“Great idea for a charity, I have found attitude and resilience to have been the most important things so far and have certainly been a on a massive journey the last couple of years with it (IA)”. Instagram follower

Our weekly podcast, Inflammatory! is launching 10th January 2025.  We want everyone to understand what life is like living with a chronic fluctuating disease. Our founders Debbie and Katy give a unique insight into their lives covering the ups and downs of living with IA whilst trying to have the positive mindset to inspire resilience, empower lives and help the public understand life with IA.

IAUK will also work with researchers and healthcare professionals and charity partners to improve the lives of anyone living with IA. We will encourage best practice in public and patient involvement and engagement (PPIE) in research and co-production in healthcare quality improvement programmes, making sure the voice of lived experience.
